A Head Spa is a specialized treatment, originally developed in Asia, that focuses on the health of the scalp and hair while also offering a deeply soothing experience.

It combines deep cleansing, exfoliation, therapeutic scalp massage, and targeted treatments to remove buildup, balance oils, and refresh the scalp—think of it as a facial for your scalp.

At KC Head Spa, we elevate the traditional approach with added layers of care: every session includes a clarifying treatment for the hair to remove minerals and even medication buildup, plus supportive therapies such as frequency-based music for ultra relaxation, negative ion therapy, and grounding/earthing therapy.

The result is more than scalp care—it’s a restorative renewal that resets energy, reduces stress and quiets the mental chatter leaving you refreshed, more calm and clearer minded.

At KC Head Spa, we take great care in curating sessions that are not only deeply restorative but also very nurturing. Every detail is chosen with intention and designed to go beyond surface-level relaxation—we strive to create truly therapeutic experiences.

We use science-driven and/or botanical-based products selected for their effectiveness and integrity. Each head spa session includes a gentle chelating (deeply clarifying) hair treatment that purges unwanted minerals, buildup, and even medication residue from the hair.

The result is hair that feels lighter, brighter, softer, dries faster, and responds better. Your scalp feels clean, unclogged, flakes less, balanced, etc.

Every session is further enhanced with therapies such as frequency-based music, negative ion therapy, grounding therapy, and more.

Each of our treatments rooms has a different theme. You can choose which room you would like based on your preferences!

Head Spa treatments are ideal for anyone looking to improve scalp health, hair health, address issues like dryness, oiliness, itchiness, dandruff, thinning hair, or simply looking for self-care.

Treatments range from 60 minutes to 90 minutes or more with customizations.

We have a pre-appointment form for you to fill out and tell us about your allergies and we will accommodate your needs by eliminating or exchanging the products that may have your allergens in them. You may also call or email us to discuss your needs.

We recommend that you wait a minimum of 1 week after any chemical service due to the gentle but effective clarification process we use for our treatments.

However, please note you may opt out of the chelation treatment if you wish.

It would be ideal to visit before your hair color appointment, as clarified and nourished hair ensures better color absorption and more vibrant, long-lasting results.

For optimal scalp health, we recommend a treatment every 4 to 6 weeks or more often if you wish. However, if you experience issues like dryness, oiliness, or buildup, more frequent treatments may be beneficial until balance is restored.

But ultimately, we encourage you to come as often as you are able. You are worthy of care.

And if you are wondering if you can be hairless and still reap the benefits of a head spa session.. yes! you absolutely can!

If you have extensions, locs, dreads, or braids, you won’t be able to experience the full benefits from head spa at KC Head Spa. We do not want to risk damaging the hairstyle in any way.

The bonds on extensions could be affected by the steam and other treatments we use. We do however, highly recommend getting head spa treatments in between move-ups!

Once you enter the private head spa room, video recording will not be permitted unless arranged in advance under special circumstances. You are here to unwind and be uninterrupted so put your phone away.

Yes! We have 5 treatment rooms in our Overland Park location so we can accommodate groups up to 5 at a time. If you are booking with a friend(s) or for a special event please let us know!

Our Olathe location has one treatment room with one spabed.
